A questão toda é que esse modelos nunca foram testados quando os inputs apontam uma alta de 1044hpa sobre o continente. Os resultados acabam sendo diversos! The process of evaporation, where liquid water turns into a vapor, requires heat energy. When people perspire, their skin cools. The same thing happens to raindrops as they fall through a layer of dry air. Part of the liquid raindrop evaporates as it falls, and this can cool the raindrop to 32°F, where it freezes and becomes snow. Conditions have to be just right. If the air down low isn't dry enough, the raindrop will remain liquid. If the air is too dry or the layer of dry air is too thick, the raindrop will evaporate before it hits the ground and result in virga. Is it ever too warm to snow? Theoretically, no, but with surface temperatures above 50°F, snow that gets near the surface melts so quickly that it appears to be raining. Há muito frio em altura e que está avançando bem mais ao norte do que o previsto. Passei a semana inteira aqui mostrando que os modelos tavam subestimando o frio.
