However, May is also a dangerous month. Nationally speaking, May is the peak month for tornadoes. In the graph below, note the average U.S. tornado count almost doubles from April to May. Average U.S. monthly tornadoes Let's dig a little deeper into this. As it turns out, May's typically high U.S. tornado count comes mainly from a corridor of the country commonly called "Tornado Alley", whose peak month for tornadoes is, yep, you guessed it, May. (shaded in white below) Just consider the list of cities who have had the majority of tornadoes in May. It reads like a "who's who" of tornado threat. Gerson Ibias Posted May 1, 2011 at 10:40 PM Share Posted May 1, 2011 at 10:40 PM INGLATERRA: Sunny April sets weather records Published on Sunday 1 May 2011 11:31 The past month has been the warmest April in central England since records began more than 350 years ago, weather experts have revealed. Provisional data issued by MeteoGroup UK, the weather division of the Press Association, showed it is the fourth sunniest April recorded in the UK over the last 100 years. A spokesman for MeteoGroup said the month was also the sixth driest April during the past century. Although the first week of April was dominated by a strong south-westerly airflow, bringing heavy and prolonged rain to the Western Highlands, the Lake District and Snowdonia, all parts of the UK were unusually dry thereafter. The MeteoGroup spokesman said: "There were some cooler and cloudier days during the second week, but it was exceptionally warm and sunny between the 16th and 25th." Mean maximum temperatures for April ranged from 19.8C (68F) at St James's Park in London to 9.8C (50F) at Fair Isle in Scotland, and the mean minimum temperature was at least 3.5c above the long-term average in all regions. The average temperature recorded in central England - 11.9C (53F) - was 3.9C above the long-term mean and was the highest for April since records began 353 years ago. Meanwhile, the highest temperature recorded at a standard site was 27.8C (82F) at Wisley in Surrey on St George's Day - the highest April temperature anywhere in the UK since 1949. The lowest temperature was minus 5.4C (22F) at Lochaber in Scotland on April 26, while the lowest daytime maximum was 6.5C (44F) at Warcop in Cumbria on April 13. Copyright © Press Association Ltd. 2011, All Rights Reserved ===================================== April 2011. Warmest since 1659. Paul Hudson | 06:39 UK time, Sunday, 1 May 2011 Figures released by the Met Office next week are expected to show that April 2011 has been the warmest ever recorded according to Central England Temperature (CET) records, which is the longest temperature data set in the world, with records going back to 1659. The April record was last set only 4 years ago in 2007; before that the previous warmest April on record was in 1865. It continues a run of incredible temperature extremes, coming hot off the heels of December 2010 which was the second coldest December since 1659, and the coldest since 1890. Locally, April 2011 will also be the warmest on record at Leeming in North Yorkshire. April 2011 will also not only be the driest April on record at the North Yorkshire station, but their driest month ever, with less than 2mm for the entire month. The previous driest April was in 1954 (5.4mm); and the previous driest month was February 1985, with 2.9mm of rain. Records go back to 1945. :heat:

"Fire and Rain": April 2011's Wet/Dry Records by Jonathan Erdman, Sr. Meteorologist "April's tornado siege has commanded the stage. But it wasn't the only story. James Taylor famously sings "I've seen fire and I've seen rain." No words were ever more appropriate for April's incredible precipitation contrast. While wildfires scorched parts of Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, inundating rain flooded parts of the Ozarks Mid-Mississippi and Ohio Valleys. Chicago FEEERVE no momento!!!!  Sds.
