Contexto I: A FEMA (que é o equivalente nos EUA à nossa defesa civil) foi muito criticada pela sua resposta ao furacão Katrina, tanto na preparação e evacuação e áreas atendidas antes da chegada do furacão, quanto durante a calamidade, onde ninguém estava prevendo tamanha devastação, o que gerou um grande desgaste à imagem do presidente Bush na época. Tanto que a resposta ao furacão Rita, semanas depois, foi à época o maior plano de evacuação dos EUA. Uma CPI responsabilizou a FEMA pelas mortes na Louisiana, alegando que a agência não exerceu o papel o qual foi criado pra exercer e que a resposta mais adequada perante as previsões do NHC na época era um plano de evacuação mais abrangente. Mais ou menos isso. Contexto II: É ano de eleição nos EUA e o atual presidente tem vantagem nessa região. Não sou especialista no assunto, mas o furacão Michael Cat.4/5 passou por um curto caminho até a Geórgia, cerca de 100 milhas, e não sei se chegou lá como Cat.3, acho q como TS não ? Agora o Euro indica q Laura passaria cerca de 360 milhas, da região de Galveston, TX até a divisa do estado de Oklahoma/ Arkansas, passando por Houston, a q é uma região totalmente diferenteda região de Panamá City, onde Michael passou, e ainda assim chegaria bem forte......
