Invasões de ar polar na América do Norte, como está ocorrendo agora, coincidem em regra com dias de temperatura elevada no Groelândia. O movimento da corrente do jato estabelece um bloqueio que drena o ar frio da região enquanto no trem de ondas o ar gelado avança sobre os Estados Unidos.
