Andrea, Barry, Chantal, Dexter e Fernand foram tempestades tropicais fracas, mas com Barry e Chatal causando prejuízos entre 5 a 56 milhõess de doláres e algumas mortes. O grande destaque foi Erin, que chegou a categoria 5 e gerou bastante ACE para temporada. Depois de um período bem calmo, Gabrielle se formou e rapidamente se intensificou de ontem para hoje para um grande furacão de categoria 3. Até o momento 16 sistemas tropicais foram registrados, sendo 8 furacões e 4 grandes furacões. NHC que já alertava há dias sobre os riscos que Melissa põe toda a região, usou hoje linguagem mais dramática, ícones e sinais pra chamar atenção pra gravidade da situação pra ilha e também pro Haiti. República Dominicana e Cuba têm feito melhores trabalhos de prevenção que esses dois países. Hoje todos os modelos convergiram e é iminente que Melissa atinja a Jamaica diretamente. Impressionantemente a Jamaica nunca teve em tempos de monitoramento, um landfall de nenhum furacão de categoria 4 ou 5. Se as previsões se confirmarem, Melissa será o primeiro!
