The frigid air will enhance the dangerous cold over the Midwest and bring the Northeast its lowest temperatures so far this winter. Temperatures were expected to stay below zero over a large part of Minnesota today. Blustery winds will cause AccuWeather.com RealFeel® temperatures to dangerously plummet below minus 30°. The extreme cold poses a serious health risk to people, as well as pets. While frostbite can develop in only a matter of minutes, prolonged exposure to the bitter cold may result in potentially deadly hypothermia. Temperatures in Chicago tonight will drop below zero with RealFeels® temperatures forecast to hover around minus 25°. Temperatures will stay subzero throughout much of Thursday. Chilly air has settled over the Northeast in the wake of Tuesday's clipper. High temperatures will tumble further on Thursday into Friday with the arrival of the harsh cold. Temperatures in New York City will plummet to 5° on Thursday night then fail to reach the 15-degree mark on Friday. The city has not endured a temperature at or below 5° since Jan. 28, 2005. Should temperatures drop to near zero in the Big Apple, the last time temperatures were that cold was on Jan. 19, 1994. The bitter cold will expand beyond the northern tier of the nation, reaching the southern Plains by Thursday. Temperatures will drop under 40° in Dallas tonight then remain there until Friday afternoon. The chilly air will sweep across the South on Thursday into Friday. Daytime temperatures will struggle to reach the 30-degree mark in Raleigh and Charlotte on Friday. North winds around 5 mph in the evening...becoming light. Há calor penetrando pelo oeste! Pela análise de ontem feita pela MetSul a temperatura deve atingir 16° em 850 hpa sobre... São Francisco!!! :shock: Perto das 19 h San Diego e Los Angeles tinham 20°. São Francisco, 14°. As duas primeiras devem passar folgado dos 20° nos próximos dias, e São Francisco terá máxima nessa faixa. Às 21:53 fazia 1° em Tallahassee!! Abraços extremistas!! This value broke the record low of 36 degrees below zero set on January 15, 1971. More importantly, this is the coldest temperature officially observed in Bismarck since January 18, 1950! Here is a list of the 5 times that the city equaled or dipped below -44 degrees since records have been kept starting in 1874: Date: Temperature January 2, 1887: -44 degrees January 13, 1916: -45 degrees February 16, 1936: -45 degrees January 18, 1950: -44 degrees Today!: -44 degrees So as you can see from the list above that Bismarck missed it's all-time record low by just one degree. 8:40 am ET Very low record lows broken: TWC meteorologist Mark Ressler gathered up these very cold record lows that were broken earlier this morning as temps plummeted in the teens to 40 degrees below zero.
